The last 48 hours

So far, so good.

We hit the road around 7:30am Thursday morning heading for Laredo, Texas.   I was super excited and even more nervous.  Having no idea what to expect was wreaking havoc on my nerves.

We left Rocky Mount headed down 95 and by the time we got to Fayetteville, it was pouring rain.  Then it did not stop until sometime overnight.  We made it to the east side of Atlanta before stopping for the night.  I did a lot of  crocheting and took a few pics. It was a little rainy to get any good shots.

This morning we hit the road around 6am.  I went through three states today that I had never been in.  Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.  SO MANY BRIDGES.  But not like bridge bridges, most of them were really just like raised roadways on stilts through lake/swampy area.   I did get to see the Mississippi River and that was neat.  We are stopped at a Pilot in Iowa, LA for the evening.

I took my first truck stop shower today.  It was super clean.  You get your own little bathroom to yourself.  They give you towels and soap too.  Pretty cool.  I did learn that Mark takes a much longer shower than I do. I wandered around the convenient store for 20 minutes waiting on him after I was done.    I did also learn that truck stops gouge the crap out of truck drivers.  $2.49 for a can of corn or Chef Boyardee!  I could not believe it.  A box of 4 sanitary supplies, was $7.99.  Thank goodness we can hit up Walmart every week or so to get what we will need.  It's really sad that they rip off the drivers like that.

Also, I cooked in the truck tonight!  I made pork steaks and potatoes.  It came out good but its going to take some time to get used to such a small space to cook in.

  1. That 18 mile bridge is craziness! You have to take a picture of cooking in the truck and the truck stop shower. Two things I cannot visualize! Glad y’all are doing well! ❤️

  2. I would stress about not knowing how high the bridges would be!!!
