NC Zoo and WNC Nature Center

I have been having a wonderful week here in NC.  The weather has been perfect and am loving the time spent with friends and of course, my boys!

Wednesday I got to hang out with Dax.  We took a field trip to my friend Heather's brand new bakery in Downtown Princeton, Outta the Box Cakes and Confections.  We were treated to a behind the scenes tour of her beautiful space and then of course picked up some amazing treats to take home with us.  Follow her on Facebook : Outta The Box   After that Dax and I went to the Dollar Tree, McDonald's and the park for a bit before going home to play with Jubilee. I had fun teaching her the ballet positions and she caught on pretty well! We ended the night with pizza for dinner.  I loved every second of my day with them.

On Thursday, Andrew and I took a trip to the NC Zoo.  The weather was amazing and the crowds were light.  The NC Zoo is the largest natural habitat zoo in the world, so it's a lot of walking.  Normally we would take the tram to the top of the zoo and then walk down hill to see all the animals.  On this day Drew and I decided to walk the whole thing.  Let's just say that three months of being sick and getting very minimal exercise has not done me any good.  I was BEAT by the time we were done walking up the hill to the top, then down, and then back up, and back down.  It was a great afternoon spent with Andrew though.

Once we were done at the zoo we drove 3 hours and 45 minutes to Adam's place.  It has been so much fun being with these two crazy boys.  Friday Adam had to work and Drew and I just hung out.  I made sauce and macaroni salad to go with the rest of our weekend menu.  Adam finally got home and that evening we had a fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.  I realized once again that I think s'mores are gross which is odd since I love graham crackers and chocolate and marshmallows are ok but together blech.  No thanks.

Western Carolina University from the Airport
Saturday it was raining a little bit so we decided to get started on Adam's future move.  We went through his spare room and bedroom and he purged a ton of stuff.  I was really proud of how hard he worked.  It will make things that  much easier when its time to start packing for his move in July.   Once we were done we took a ride to the little airport and I took a few pics.  It was very overcast so didn't get much but a nice time with Adam.  Later,  we had a yummy spaghetti dinner and then just relaxed the rest of the evening.

This morning we got up and went to Asheville and went to the WNC Nature Preserve.  It was really nice even if I didn't get to see the red pandas do anything other than sleep!  While we were there the red wolves and the gray wolves decided to have a "howl off" and it was super cool to hear.  I got the tail end of it on video.  Howl off video

Tomorrow morning I say see ya later to Adam when he goes to work.  Andrew and I will head back to his side of the state (they live about 5 hours apart) and then once I drop him off, it's back to my friend Adri's house to spend time with her, Will, Dax and Jubilee some more before bed and heading home on Tuesday.  I am looking forward to seeing Helen and Lois who have been lovingly taken care of by my friend Chris and my cousin Lynn.

Time to start planning my next excursion.  Gotta keep busy until Easter weekend when Drew and Adam come up and Mark comes home.

Thanks for reading! Love to all!
